Looking at democracy from below: the women's movement in the years of transition

Abstract
The article analyzes the experience of some feminist groups that, at the time of the transition, organized themselves to think, discuss and activate with the aim of providing the democracy that was to come with a perspective that would include women's rights in a substantial way. The text focuses on several aspects of this experience. A description of those associations formed by militants of the new left of the 1970s, feminist women who had been silenced during the dictatorship and members of human rights organizations; a presentation of some of the actions they carried out; the encounters and misunderstandings with other movements and finally analyzes the continuities and ruptures that occurred in the following years.
