Love, intimacy and revolution in the poetry of Rosa María Pargas

Abstract
Rosa María Pargas was a sociologist, activist and poet. She was kept captive during 1972 in Rawson prison, where she met Alberto Miguel Camps, also an activist and survivor of the Trelew Massacre. About those times and that intense relationship, Pargas wrote a series of poems, compiled decades later in the posthumous book Hubiera querido (2011). This article aims to reflect on how these texts interpret and configure an image of activist love, in which both aspects of the romantic love and the revolutionary commitment and sacrificial mandate, both typical of the left field ideology, are put into play. What kind of intimacy do they build and how is it articulated with the genocide experience? What role do affects – the figures of the lover, the friend, the mother – and emotions play when it comes to feeling, thinking and writing the revolution? How are passion, fear, doubts and the seventies political program intertwined?
